Part time and Casual Assistant in Nursing Positions – Inpatient, Emergency and Residential Aged Care: NORFOLK ISLAND HEALTH AND RESIDENTIAL AGED CARE SERVICE (NIHRACS)

We are seeking highly motivated and compassionate Assistants in Nursing (AIN) to join our team in a remote island location. This role offers a unique opportunity to provide exemplary nursing care to NIHRACS facility patients and residents while embracing the values of Excellence, Respect, Integrity, and Teamwork. The AIN will deliver planned, evidence based, quality holistic nursing care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or Enrolled Nurse. Full time, part time and causal opportunities are available.

Key Responsibilities and attributes:

The AIN will

• Be empathic and respectful of people who are aging, have medical conditions, dementia or challenging behaviours

• Provide support to the nursing team in the delivery of care to the residents as per their care plan and under the supervision of a Registered Nurse

• Be responsible for their own actions and remain accountable to the Registered Nurse for all allocated functions

• Practice in accordance with the AIN Position Description and NIHRACS policies and procedures

• Assist in the delivery of direct care activities as allocated including but not limited to:

o Preparing resident document

o Feeding/meal assistance

o Personal Care: including showering/sponging and dressing

o Assisting with mobility and transfers

o Communication with visitors/relatives /residents

o Resident room tidying/organising

• Recognise and respect the cultural diversity of the community, adapting care to meet the specific needs and preferences of patients

·        Possess basic computer literacy, knowledge of health information systems, and Office 365 applications

·        Possess Vaccinations in accordance with Class A requirements

Selection Criteria:

·        Current Certificate III or IV In Aged Care or Disability Care or equivalent

·        Residential Aged Care experience (highly desirable)

·        Ability to work effectively as a member of a collaborative team environment and to adapt to cultural diversity and changing needs and conditions in a remote setting

Renumeration: The AIN will be paid as NRG Grade 1 under the NIHRACS Enterprise Agreement. An indicative range of base remuneration is $2,523.19 to $2,762.77 per fortnight plus 12.5% superannuation and locality allowance.
