About the role
$47.79 per hour + Super + Overtime
Permanent Full-Time | Tuesday to Friday | 6:00am–4:00pm
Every Monday off – a three-day weekend, every week
Carole Park, Brisbane QLD
Use your fitting and machining skills – and enjoy a permanent 4-day roster.
Are you a trade-qualified Fitter & Turner / Machinist who enjoys both machining and mechanical maintenance?
We're looking for an experienced tradesperson with strong manual machining skills, ideally backed by CNC experience, to join our Toolroom & Maintenance team at our Carole Park manufacturing facility.
This isn't repetitive production machining. You'll work across mechanical maintenance, breakdowns, machining, tooling, jigs, fixtures, repairs and equipment improvements – giving you plenty of variety and the opportunity to use the full range of your trade skills.
This position works a permanent Tuesday-to-Friday roster, 6:00am–4:00pm, giving you every Monday off and a three-day weekend every week.
Please note: This is a skilled trade position requiring recognised fitting/machining qualifications and current Australian working rights. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
The Role
Working within our Toolroom & Maintenance team, you'll be involved in a mix of hands-on machining and mechanical maintenance, including:
Maintaining, repairing and fault-finding production machinery and equipment
Manufacturing, modifying and repairing machine components
Manufacturing and repairing tooling, jigs and fixtures
Operating manual lathes, milling machines, surface grinders and other workshop equipment
Operating CNC machinery where required
Reading and working from engineering drawings
Carrying out preventative maintenance to minimise production downtime
Assisting with machinery installations, tooling changes and commissioning
Identifying practical improvements to increase equipment reliability and efficiency
Maintaining high standards of safety, housekeeping and workmanship
This role would suit someone who enjoys making, fixing, problem-solving and improving things rather than doing the same job every day.
What You'll Need
To be considered for this position, you'll need:
Trade qualification as a Fitter & Turner / Fitter Machinist or equivalent
Hands-on manual machining experience, including lathes and milling machines
Mechanical maintenance and fault-finding experience
Experience working with production or industrial machinery
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
A practical approach to troubleshooting and problem-solving
Pride in producing accurate, quality work
Ability to work effectively as part of a maintenance and production team
Current Australian working rights
Highly Regarded
Experience in any of the following would be an advantage:
CNC machining
Toolroom environments
Manufacturing or modifying tooling, jigs and fixtures
Surface grinding
Machinery installation and commissioning
AutoCAD or Inventor
You don't need to tick every box in this section. If you're a qualified Fitter & Turner / Machinist with strong manual machining and mechanical maintenance skills, we'd still like to hear from you.
