We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Associate or Special Counsel to join our team in Melbourne working with partners Kerri Thomas and Jehan Mata.

About the team and the work

• Working primarily in the area of medical negligence, the team has deep expertise in professional negligence proceedings brought against doctors, hospitals and allied health professionals.

• The team act for a number of medical defence organisations and insurers, as well as doctors, private hospitals, dentists and allied health professionals in defending medical negligence claims and assisting them in disciplinary proceedings, Coronials and litigated claims.

• This role will suit an experienced Senior Associate or Special Counsel who is looking for a clear progression path, enjoys mentoring junior team members, and is eager to play a key role in business development.

• The team embraces working flexibly and therefore we welcome applications from candidates who are looking for flexibility in their next role.

About you

• At least 5 years' experience gained in a well-regarded defendant insurance practice.

• Prior medical negligence experience is essential.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Excellent attention to detail and organisational ability.

• Willingness to mentor junior team members and be involved in business development activities.
