Senior Design Engineer - Fluid Power

About the Opportunity

Berendsen Fluid Power is seeking a degree-qualified Senior Fluid Power Engineer to join our Newcastle Branch, leading hydraulic and electrical system design, circuit design, and technical documentation for complex customer projects. This role suits an engineer who enjoys translating customer requirements into robust, fit-for-purpose system designs – from initial concept through to final documentation.

Your Tasks

• Design and document hydraulic and electrical systems, producing circuit designs and compiling bills of materials (BOMs)
• Coordinate final system design between customers, the Branch and the Engineering and Design Team
• Manage projects from quote acceptance through to final customer acceptance, ensuring designs are delivered on time, within budget and to specification
• Prepare and coordinate project proposals and tender response documentation
• Provide technical and application support to customers and internal teams, including audit and technical reports
• Troubleshoot complex system faults and produce documented repair and design procedures
• Support Branch growth by identifying technical solutions for new and existing customer accounts
• Contribute to knowledge transfer and technical mentoring within the Branch

About You

• Degree-qualified engineer (Mechanical, Mechatronic, Electrical or similar)
• Strong experience in hydraulic and electrical system design and documentation
• Skilled in producing circuit designs, BOMs, technical reports and tender documentation
• Proven project management experience, from proposal through to delivery
• Strong analytical and problem-solving ability, with high attention to detail
• Comfortable working across office, workshop and industrial site environments, with some on-site work as required
• Clear, professional communicator who can liaise confidently with customers and internal stakeholders
• A collaborative team player who shares technical knowledge with colleagues
