Moorditj Koort Aboriginal Corporation (MKAC) is an Aboriginal Community Controlled, not-for-profit organisation committed to supporting the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in Perth metropolitan and Wheatbelt regions.

MKAC was established to deliver a culturally safe, community-led “One Stop Shop” for Aboriginal health and wellbeing. The need for this model was raised by local Aboriginal community members who called for services that were coordinated, culturally grounded, and genuinely impactful. Today, MKAC offers a wide range of programs designed to meet those needs.

About the Role

We are seeking two Community Transport Drivers to join our busy Midland team.

The Community Transport Driver (CTD) plays a key role in enabling Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients to access vital medical and social services under MKAC’s Integrated Team Care (ITC) program and other health initiatives.

This frontline role goes beyond transport. As a CTD, you’ll actively contribute to cultural safety, build trust, and ensure that clients feel respected and supported throughout their healthcare journeys. You’ll also help remove barriers to care by providing reliable transport for appointments, often involving long-distance travel, and maintain strong relationships with both clients and the MKAC team.

Note: This position involves extended periods of sitting and long-distance driving.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide safe, respectful, and reliable transport for Aboriginal clients to and from health and community service appointments
• Prepare daily running sheets and ensure all client information is accurate and complete
• Keep vehicles clean, refuelled, and regularly checked for roadworthiness
• Build respectful relationships with clients, families, and MKAC staff
• Work closely with ITC Care Coordinators to address transport-related barriers and share relevant client concerns
• Record transport service notes in MMEX (client database) within 24 hours of each trip
• Attend team meetings, staff training, and participate in MKAC community events (e.g. NAIDOC, Sorry Day, Close the Gap)
• Update and confirm client contact details regularly
• Ensure all required certifications are current and valid
• Maintain confidentiality, professionalism, and cultural sensitivity at all times

• Comply with MKAC policies and relevant legislation (e.g. WHS, EEO)
• Handle sensitive information with discretion and integrity

• Safe driving practices and a clean driving record
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage well with clients and colleagues
• Ability to work independently, show initiative, and problem-solving skills
• Effective time management and organisational skills to manage transport schedules and competing priorities
• Confidence using mobile devices or tablets for navigation, data entry, and communication
• Culturally respectful and responsive approach when working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities

Essential Certifications

• WA C-Class Driver’s Licence (clean and current)
• National Police Clearance (issued within the last 3 months)
• Working with Children Check (WA)
• Vulnerable People Check
• COVID-19 Vaccination Certificate (as per public health requirements)
