Design/Drafting Automation Specialist

About the role

CPS is looking for a CAD Automation Specialist to support the ongoing development and automation of our engineering drafting systems.

Key duties and responsibilities

• Learn, understand, and operate CPS drafting standards, workflows and design practices.

• Develop an in-depth understanding of conveyor pulley, idler & roller design, drafting, and associated manufacturing processes.

• Develop and implement CAD automation using DriveWorks, Solidworks, and Solidworks PDM, to enhance efficiency of the design/drafting workflow.

• Support, maintain, operate and improve the implemented automated design/drafting systems.

• Maintain CAD libraries, templates, design rules and configuration data.

• Work with engineering, automation, and drafting teams to identify and integrate further opportunities for process and product improvement and automation.

• Create and maintain documentation for automated workflows and drafting standards.

About you - Essential:

• Experience using Solidworks (or similar CAD software).

• Experience with Driveworks (or similar CAD automation software).

• Experience with Solidworks PDM (Vault) or similar document management systems.

• Strong understanding of mechanical drafting principles and manufacturing drawings.

• Logical problem-solving skills with an interest in automation and continuous improvement.

• Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas and simple scripting.

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.

• Tertiary qualification in design, drafting or related engineering field.

About you - Highly regarded:

• Knowledge of conveyor systems, pulleys or bulk materials handling equipment.

• Experience in manufacturing, metalworking, or mining industries.
