Prestige Auto Works is seeking an experienced Automotive Parts Interpreter to join our team on a full-time basis at our Airport West, VIC location. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for accurately identifying, sourcing and interpreting automotive parts requirements for our clients and internal operations. This position is essential to ensuring our customers receive the correct components for their vehicles and that our workshop operates efficiently. You will work on-site at our Airport West facility, where you'll collaborate with mechanics, service advisors and customers to translate mechanical needs into precise parts specifications.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and interpret automotive parts requirements from customer requests, work orders and mechanical specifications

• Consult parts catalogues, technical manuals and electronic databases to locate correct part numbers and specifications

• Source parts from suppliers and manufacturers, ensuring quality and timeliness of delivery

• Communicate with workshop mechanics to clarify technical requirements and confirm part suitability

• Liaise with customers to explain parts options, compatibility and pricing

• Maintain accurate records of parts inventory, orders and supplier information

• Resolve discrepancies between requested and available parts, offering suitable alternatives where necessary

• Stay current with new vehicle models, parts updates and supplier catalogues

• Support the workshop team to minimise downtime by ensuring prompt parts availability

What we're looking for

• Proven experience working as an Automotive Parts Interpreter, Parts Advisor or equivalent role in the automotive industry

• In-depth knowledge of automotive components, systems and parts identification across various vehicle makes and models

• Proficiency in using automotive parts management software and electronic cataloguing systems

• Strong understanding of technical specifications, part numbers and compatibility requirements

• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to work effectively with mechanics, suppliers and customers

• Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy when identifying and recording parts information

• Ability to interpret technical manuals, wiring diagrams and mechanical drawings

• Problem-solving skills to identify suitable parts alternatives when preferred options are unavailable

• Organisational ability to manage multiple part requests and orders simultaneously

• A valid Australian driver's licence is desirable

• Relevant automotive industry qualifications or certifications are advantageous
