About the team/About the role:  

Reporting to the Director, Cancer Information and Support Services, the Manager, Cancer Support and Navigation leads a geographically dispersed, multidisciplinary team delivering information, psychosocial support and navigation services to people affected by cancer across NSW. The team encompasses Cancer Council’s 13 •1 20 Information and Support Line, Cancer Council Liaisons based in treatment centres, and our counselling and peer support services. 

This is a pivotal leadership role, responsible for driving service excellence, strengthening quality and clinical governance, and ensuring people affected by cancer receive timely, compassionate, and evidence-based support throughout their cancer experience. 

An exciting period of transformation is underway through the Commonwealth-funded Australian Cancer Nursing and Navigation Program (ACNNP). As part of this initiative, Cancer Council is implementing Cancer Connect, a national cancer navigation service that will enhance and expand the existing 13 •1 20 service with new digital navigation and support offerings. This role will play a key part in leading the wider team through this change, as well as strengthening service quality standards across the liaison, counselling and peer support services.

Key responsibilities of the role:   

• Lead and develop a multidisciplinary and geographically dispersed team delivering high-quality information, support, navigation and psychosocial services to people affected by cancer. 
• Drive service excellence through strong clinical governance, quality improvement and workforce capability initiatives. 
• Lead strategic projects and service improvement programs, ensuring effective stakeholder engagement and successful outcomes. 
• Oversee service budgets, resource allocation and operational performance to support strategic priorities and client outcomes. 
• Build and maintain strong partnerships with health professionals, Local Health Districts and other key stakeholders to strengthen referral pathways and service integration. 
• Monitor service performance, evaluate outcomes and use data-driven insights to support continuous improvement and organisational decision-making. 

About you:  

Essential:   

• Tertiary qualification in health, clinical, health management, or a related field. 
• Experience in health, psychosocial support, or human services, including clinical governance, service quality, and continuous improvement. 
• Strong leadership skills with experience managing multidisciplinary teams across diverse locations. 
• Proficiency in client management systems, databases, and digital tools. 
• Demonstrated ability to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders. 
• Understanding of support, information and navigation service delivery frameworks and professional practice standards. 
• Willingness to travel within NSW and hold a valid driver’s licence. 

Desirable:   

• Experience working in oncology or cancer supportive care and knowledge of the cancer care system. 
• Knowledge and proficiency in CRM platforms. 
• Experience working in the not-for-profit sector.
