About the role
Full-Time Position | Workshop & Field-Based | Immediate Start
MG Electrical Services is looking for an experienced and motivated Boilermaker to join our growing team in Darwin.
With a strong reputation across the Northern Territory for delivering electrical, powerline, construction and infrastructure projects, we are looking for someone who takes pride in their workmanship and enjoys a hands-on role working across both our workshop and project sites.
This is a great opportunity for a skilled Boilermaker who wants to be part of a well-established, locally owned company with a strong pipeline of work.
The RoleReporting to the Fabrication Supervisor, you will be responsible for fabrication, welding, maintenance and repairs across our plant, equipment and structural components.
Your work will directly support our construction and electrical operations, ensuring our fleet, equipment and fabricated components are safe, reliable and ready for work.
Key ResponsibilitiesFabricate, weld and repair plant, equipment, structural steel and associated components.
Inspect equipment and identify defects including cracking, wear and fatigue-related damage.
Carry out structural repairs and modifications to plant and equipment.
Read and work from engineering drawings, specifications and relevant standards.
Complete pre-starts, maintenance records and equipment condition reports.
Work closely with Project Managers, Supervisors and construction teams to plan and prioritise fabrication and repair works.
Maintain workshop tools, equipment, consumables and materials.
Complete fabrication records, job reports and system entries accurately and on time.
Close out completed works through our maintenance and fleet management systems.
Assist with assessing repair vs replacement options for plant and equipment, considering safety, reliability and value for money.
Participate in toolbox meetings, risk assessments and safety initiatives.
Support and mentor apprentices and junior team members.
Complete daily timesheets and required project documentation.
Work safely and contribute to a positive, proactive safety culture.
We are looking for someone who:
Holds a Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication Trade (Boilermaking) or equivalent.
Has proven experience in fabrication, welding and structural repairs.
Can confidently read and interpret engineering drawings.
Has strong attention to detail and takes pride in quality workmanship.
Can identify faults and develop practical repair solutions.
Is comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.
Has a strong understanding of WHS requirements.
Is reliable, organised and able to prioritise competing workloads.
Has good communication and reporting skills.
Takes ownership of their work and looks for practical ways to improve efficiency.
Is willing to mentor apprentices and less experienced team members.
Holds a current Australian driver's licence.
Experience working with heavy plant, construction equipment, earthmoving equipment or electrical infrastructure would be highly regarded.
