Group Production Manager

Lead the production operations of one of South Australia's longest running bakery businesses.

We are seeking an experienced Group Production Manager to oversee all production across our retail bakery and biscuit manufacturing operations.

This is a leadership role for someone who enjoys being actively involved on the production floor while also driving strategy, systems and continuous improvement. You'll work closely with the owners to build a high-performing production team capable of supporting future growth.

About the Role

As Group Production Manager, you will be responsible for the overall performance of our production operations. You will lead our baking and biscuit manufacturing teams, ensure exceptional product quality, manage costs and labour, and continuously improve efficiency across the business.

You will split your time between production, coaching staff, solving problems and leading by example.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage all production operations across the retail bakery and biscuit factory.

• Be hands-on in production, supporting the team and maintaining high operational standards.

• Plan production capacity, workflows and labour requirements.

• Control production costs, inventory levels and waste.

• Develop, mentor and support the Head Baker and wider production team.

• Work closely with the owners on strategic planning and business growth.

• Coordinate equipment maintenance, food safety and compliance activities.

• Drive continuous improvement projects that increase productivity and efficiency.

• Ensure products consistently meet our quality standards and customer expectations.

What Success Looks Like

• Bakery cost of goods sold maintained at or below target.

• Consistently high product quality across all product lines.

• Labour efficiency and overtime managed within budget.

• Reduced waste and improved production yields.

• A capable, engaged production team with strong leadership and succession planning.

• Reliable, scalable production systems that support continued business growth while reducing operational reliance on the owners.

About You

You'll be an experienced production leader with a background in bakery, food manufacturing or FMCG production. You're equally comfortable developing people, analysing production performance and rolling up your sleeves to help the team when required.

You'll ideally bring:

• Proven experience managing production teams.

• Strong leadership and coaching skills.

• Excellent planning and organisational ability.

• Commercial understanding of labour, costs and production KPIs.

• Experience with food safety and quality systems.

• A continuous improvement mindset.

• The ability to build positive relationships across the business.
