An established and growing engineering consulting firm is seeking a Senior or Principal Flood Modeller to join its high-performing Water and Infrastructure team in either Sydney or Melbourne.This opportunity offers exposure to some of Australia's most significant projects across transport, water, energy, government, defence, land development, and major infrastructure sectors. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering flood modelling, flood risk assessment, and hydrologic and hydraulic studies for both public and private sector clients.The role is suited to an experienced professional looking to work on technically complex projects while contributing to mentoring, project leadership, and client engagement activities.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and deliver flood modelling and flood risk management projects across Australia.Develop and review hydraulic and hydrologic models for a variety of infrastructure and development applications.Undertake flood studies, flood impact assessments, drainage assessments, and floodplain management investigations.Prepare technical reports and provide specialist flood modelling advice to internal and external stakeholders.Deliver modelling using industry-leading software, including TUFLOW.Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams across water, transport, energy, environmental, and infrastructure projects.Participate in client meetings, project management activities, and technical proposal development.Mentor and support junior engineers and modellers.Contribute to business development and client relationship management initiatives.
Required Experience & Qualifications
Minimum 6 years' experience in flood modelling, hydraulic modelling, water resources engineering, or a related field.Demonstrated experience using TUFLOW is essential.Strong understanding of: Flood Risk AssessmentsFloodplain ManagementHydrology & HydraulicsCatchment ModellingStormwater ManagementFlood Impact StudiesExperience delivering projects within consulting engineering environments.Excellent report writing, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.Degree qualified in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Water Engineering, or a related discipline.CPEng / Chartered Professional Engineer status is essential.
