About the role
The Burdekin Community Association Inc. (BCA) is a not-for-profit, incorporated association and registered charity, which strives to fulfil the unmet social, welfare and health needs of the Burdekin community. A wide variety of community services are delivered by the BCA to the Burdekin Shire. Since establishment in 1975, BCA has evolved to become one of the largest community service organisations in the region.
Position Overview
This multifaceted role requires a significant level of self-motivation, enthusiasm and flexible work ethic. The successful undertaking and completion of the position’s varied activities are crucial to the ability of the Association to function smoothly and achieve its aim as a provider of community services, in accordance with the BCA’s Vision and Purpose. The incumbent is required to liaise with many people, both internally and externally, providing professional, effective and efficient services, whilst ensuring the administrative requirements of the association are also satisfied.
Domestic and Family Violence Service
The Domestic and Family Violence Service is part of the BCA’s response to the primary health care needs of the frail aged and younger disabled residents of the Burdekin region. The Service is funded by the State Government.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Manage the delivery of all DVS activities including rostering, contract performance, stakeholder coordination, reporting, quality assurance, brokerage expenditure approval, team supervision, staff safety and operational compliance.
Overall responsibility for high-risk victim-survivor escalation pathways including consultation and liaison with the HRT Coordinator, QPS, Child Safety and the 24/7 Phoneline where high-risk response or lawful information-sharing is required.
Provision of day-to-day leadership and supervision of staff and/or subcontractors reporting to the position across all programs, including all relevant Human Resource duties and WH&S responsibilities.
Manage the delivery of all DVS activities in accordance with the BCA Quality System, relevant legislation, Practice Principles, Standards and Quality Framework.
Implementation of the components of the DVS Evaluation Framework.
Liaise with BCA corporate staff regarding accounting and administrative functions and facilitate relevant DVS accounts through to the BCA for payment.
Development of budgets, service delivery plans, annual action plans, funding submissions etc. for the DVS.
Ensure that all DVS Programs operate within approved budgets.
Communicate with the general public in a manner which will enhance the image of the BCA.
Comply with the standards and conditions set out by the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 and other relevant legislation.
Completion of scheduled reports, acquittals and invoices on behalf of the DVS.
Provide assistance to the Chief Executive Officer and perform additional duties as required.
Position Requirements / Key Selection Criteria
Tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, Community Services or a closely related field (Essential).
Demonstrated experience in DFV service delivery (Desirable).
To provide a high and consistent level of service to, and communicate openly and effectively with service users, associates, colleagues and visitors.
To actively participate in the promotion of a team environment. To act in a polite and courteous manner and professionally at all times. Understand and adhere to the values of the BCA and the professional service boundaries there-in.
To attend and actively participate in relevant training programs and meetings as required.
High level of organisational skills, initiative and self-motivation to perform tasks within specified time frames under limited supervision.
Experience in working independently and as part of a flexible multi-disciplinary team to ensure the smooth operation of support services to service users.
Demonstrated commitment to quality practices based on strong work ethic, empathy, fairness, flexibility and confidentiality.
Knowledge and understanding of contemporary human resource management issues including policies and procedures, working team relationships, workplace health and safety, conflict resolution and anti-discrimination; and demonstrated commitment to their application.
Demonstrated ability in general office administration, including the use of computers and office equipment, and proficiency in Windows based software programs including Microsoft Office Suite.
Possession of or ability to obtain a First Aid and CPR certificate
Possession of or ability to obtain a Qld Blue Card, and NDIS Worker Screening Check
Possession of a current open C Class Drivers licence valid in Queensland
Possession of or access to a comprehensively insured and registered vehicle
