About the role
Marnong Estate: Marnong Estate is a premier multi-venue destination nestled on a picturesque 1500-acre winery with breathtaking vistas of the Macedon Ranges. Situated in the Sunbury wine region, we specialize in cool climate wines and offer exceptional dining experiences with an authentic Italian touch.
The Role: We are seeking experienced, motivated and reliable Casual Commis Chefs to join our busy kitchen teams. This hands-on role is ideal for someone looking to further develop their culinary skills in a fast-paced commercial kitchen environment.
You will work across all areas of kitchen operations, from daily service preparation and food production to large-scale event and function catering. The successful candidate will be passionate about hospitality, thrive under pressure, and be committed to delivering high-quality food and service standards.
Tasks & responsibilities
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Assist with food preparation and service.
Support event, function, and catering operations.
Maintain food quality, presentation, and consistency.
Follow food safety and hygiene procedures.
Assist with stock rotation, cleaning, and kitchen organisation.
Work collaboratively with the kitchen team during busy service periods.
Qualifications & experience
Minimum 1–2 years' experience in a commercial kitchen.
Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (completed or currently undertaking) preferred.
Pizza making experience highly regarded.
Proven experience in high-volume service and event/function preparation is highly regarded.
Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene practices.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Reliable, organised, and able to work well within a team.
Passionate about food and hospitality with a willingness to learn and grow.

Essential Requirements
Available to work across a 7-day rotating roster, including weekends, evenings, and public holidays.
Own reliable transport, as the workplace is not serviced by public transport.
