Registered Nurse – Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP)
Located in Melbourne on the traditional lands of the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation, The Royal Women's Hospital is Australia's first and leading specialist hospital for women and newborns. We offer expertise in maternity services, neonatal care, gynaecology, assisted reproduction, women's health and cancer services. We advocate for women's health in areas that have long been overlooked or stigmatised, including abortion, endometriosis, family violence, female genital mutilation, menopause, women's mental health, sexual assault and substance use in pregnancy.
About Neonatal Services
Our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is one of Victoria's leading tertiary neonatal referral centres, providing specialised care for premature, critically ill, and medically complex newborns from across the state. We care for some of the most vulnerable babies and their families, delivering highly specialised neonatal care within a collaborative multidisciplinary environment.
We are committed to a Family Integrated Care (FICare) model, where parents and families are recognised as essential partners in their baby's care. Families are actively involved in decision-making and day-to-day caregiving, supported through education, coaching, and collaboration to build confidence, capability, and strong parent-infant connections.
Our neonatal team is recognised for clinical excellence, innovation, education, and research. We contribute to the training and development of healthcare professionals and participate in research that advances neonatal care and improves outcomes for babies and families both locally and internationally.

About You
You are an experienced neonatal nurse with extensive NICU experience and a passion for improving outcomes for premature and vulnerable infants. You bring strong clinical judgement, excellent communication skills, and the ability to build trusted relationships with families and multidisciplinary healthcare teams. Ideally, you have experience in Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP) screening, retinal imaging, or neonatal ophthalmology services and are committed to partnering with families through a Family Integrated Care approach. You are excited by the opportunity to contribute to an innovative statewide outreach service that improves access to specialist care for babies and families across Victoria.
