Lead a state registry and support better outcomes for Australia's veteran community.

The Veterans' Review Board is a specialist merits review tribunal committed to delivering fair, timely and accessible review outcomes for veterans, serving members of the Australian Defence Force and their families.

As the State Registrar (Executive Level 1), you will report to the National Registrar and provide strategic and operational leadership for the Veterans' Review Board's state registry operations. 

You will lead a registry responsible for delivering high-quality administrative and operational support to the Board and its Members, ensuring applications are managed efficiently, professionally and in accordance with legislative and procedural requirements.

You will supervise a Deputy Registrar and registry staff, oversee case management and listing activities, monitor operational performance and contribute to national operational strategies. You will also provide high-level advice to the National Registrar on operational matters, emerging risks, workload management and opportunities for continuous improvement.

This role provides an opportunity to influence the future direction of a specialist Commonwealth tribunal while ensuring veterans, serving members and their families receive accessible, timely and professional services.

DUTIES
As an EL 1 State Registrar you will be required to:

• Lead the operations of a Registry, ensuring efficient, high-quality services that support the work of the Veterans' Review Board and its Members.
• Supervise, mentor and develop the Deputy Registrar and registry staff, building a capable, engaged and high-performing workforce.
• Oversee case allocation, listing and workload management in accordance with national operational priorities and performance expectations.
• Monitor operational performance, analyse workload trends and provide strategic advice and recommendations to the National Registrar.
• Ensure the provision of accurate, timely and high-quality advice on registry operations, legislation, tribunal practice and procedure.
• Manage complex operational matters, sensitive applications and stakeholder issues, including complaint resolution where appropriate.
• Embrace new technologies and lead the implementation of operational improvements, innovation initiatives and organisational change programs.
• Build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including Commonwealth agencies, representatives and ex-service organisations. 
• Lead or contribute to national projects and strategic initiatives supporting the ongoing development of the Veterans' Review Board.
• Promote a culture of integrity, professionalism, innovation, continuous improvement and excellence in client service.

ELIGIBILITY 

• Under section 22(8) of the Public Service Act 1999, employees must be Australian citizens to be employed in the Australian Public Service (APS).
• All applicants external to DVA offered employment will be required to successfully undergo a pre-engagement screening check, even if they have a security clearance. The screening check is conducted in accordance with the Australian Government Protective Security Policy Framework requirements.
• The successful candidate will be required obtain and maintain a Baseline Vetting (AGSVA) security clearance
