About the Role
Due to continued growth, we are seeking a skilled and experienced Payroll Officer with strong human resource and compliance management skills to manage the payroll function for a portfolio of designated hotels, ensuring adherence with relevant legislation and award interpretation at a national level. The role is based in Adelaide on a full-time basis.
The Payroll Officer will manage the weekly end-to-end payroll function for approximately 390 employees across multiple sites. The role includes handling time and attendance software in a roster-based environment contributing not only to payroll operations but also to broader human resources and compliance activities. Key Responsibilities
Manage weekly end‑to‑end payroll for ~390 employees
Oversee time and attendance systems in a roster‑based environment
Ensure correct interpretation of awards, shift penalties, overtime, and leave
Upload payroll, tax, and superannuation bank files
Ensure Workcover compliance and accurate reporting
Prepare and submit payroll tax returns and long service leave calculations
Maintain compliance with superannuation legislation
Review and enhance payroll processes and procedures
Complete month‑end payroll tasks including journals and reconciliations
Assist with onboarding, induction, and maintaining HR records
Generate employment documentation aligned with company policies and awards
Provide advice on award interpretation and employee entitlements
Qualifications & Requirements
Proven payroll experience in a medium‑sized organisation
Strong understanding of payroll tax, superannuation, Workcover, and award interpretation
Intermediate to advanced Excel skills
High attention to detail, accuracy, and confidentiality
Strong communication skills and ability to work with stakeholders at all levels
Ability to manage weekly payroll cycles under tight deadline
Experience in hospitality or industries with complex award structures
Qualifications in Payroll, HR, or related field (desirable)
