About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Estimator to join our team in Wangara, reporting to the Co-General Manager.

In this role, you will be responsible for preparing accurate and commercially sound estimates for asphalt, kerbing, and civil works projects while actively supporting business growth through client engagement and business development activities. You will work closely with existing and prospective clients, identify new project opportunities, follow up quotations and tenders, and contribute to securing profitable work while maintaining strong project margins.

This is a full-time position with flexible working arrangements, including some work-from-home opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare estimates, quotations, and tender submissions for asphalt, kerbing, and civil works projects.

• Complete quantity take-offs and review drawings, specifications, and contract documentation.

• Source and evaluate supplier and subcontractor pricing.

• Build and maintain strong client relationships and identify new business opportunities.

• Follow up quotations and tenders to maximise conversion rates and secure awarded projects.

• Develop competitive pricing strategies that support business growth and profitability.

• Support the successful handover of awarded projects to operations teams.

About You

Essential Experience

• Proven estimating experience within civil construction and/or asphalt works.

• Experience in client relationship management, sales, or business development.

• Demonstrated success in converting quotations and tenders into awarded projects.

• Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.

• Current Driver's Licence and White Card.

Skills & Attributes 

• Strong understanding of estimating principles, cost control, and project pricing.

• High level of commercial and financial acumen.

• Strong negotiation, influencing, and relationship-building skills.

• Confidence in client-facing interactions, including telephone and face-to-face communication.

• Ability to identify opportunities and develop long-term client relationships.

• Strong understanding of tendering processes and bid-winning strategies.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Project, and MYOB.

• Excellent organisational and time management skills.

• Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.

• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

• Results-driven mindset focused on securing profitable work and achieving business objectives.

• Proactive, collaborative, and team-oriented approach.
