About the Role:
The Trainer & Assessor is a key role within Training & Safety Solutions (TSS), reporting to the Senior Trainer & Assessor.
The Trainer and Assessor is responsible for the delivery of effective training and assessment in both accredited and non-accredited courses. The Trainer and Assessor is part of a team that is responsible for delivering training and assessment activities in accordance with the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA), MTC, TSS and industry quality standards and requirements.
This role may also deliver pre-service and workplace training programs in support of MTC operations and assessing on-the-job competence. This ensures that training on behalf of the Registered Training Organisation (RTO) complies with required Standards for RTO’s 2015 and MTC and TSS contractual obligations across operations and all training and assessment activities.
The Trainer and Assessor brings an ability to adjust to individuals’ different learning styles and level of skills and knowledge.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver accredited training in detention operations, refresher training, incident response, transport & escort and aviation escort using modern learning technologies (e-learning, online platforms)
Assist with the development of training materials and resources for frontline correctional and immigration detention staff, ensuring they meet MTC, TSS, and ASQA standards
Administer assessments and provide detailed feedback to students on their progress, ensuring training outcomes align with industry standards and ASQA
Use contemporary and engaging delivery methodologies and styles to support adult learning.
Actively participate on moderation and validation scheduled activities to ensure RTO compliance obligations are met, competency determinations are consistent, and the relevance of training products are maintained.
Complete administration tasks and maintain student records in the RTO's Quality Management System, Learning Management System (LMS) and Student Management System (SMS).
Maintain currency of both Industry and Vocational Education and Training (VET) competencies, by continuously updating knowledge and skills and undertaking professional development activities.
Training sessions may require interstate travel as well as potential international travel to Nauru as part of training delivery to support MTC's global Operations
Key Requirements:
Hold a Cert IV in Training and Assessment or equivalent (Essential)
Hold a Cert III Immigration Detention Operations (Essential)
Hold a Cert III in Correctional Practice (Desirable)
Minimum of 2 years of experience delivering training in correctional facilities or immigration detention centres
Hold a current First Aid and CPR certification (or willing to obtain)
High level communication skills including the ability to negotiate, influence and interact with all employees, stakeholders, and students
Have the ability to work autonomously and part of a team
Proven vaccination against Covid-19 (At least 1 vaccination)
Hold unlimited Working Rights in Australia
