Leading Hand – Civil / Electrical Infrastructure

About the role

ABR Group is seeking an experienced Leading Hand to lead a small field crew delivering electrical and communications infrastructure works. The role will involve supervising and working alongside the crew on the installation of underground electrical and communications conduits, cable hauling, as well as completing small civil and concrete works.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and supervise a small site-based team

• Install electrical and communications conduits, pits and associated infrastructure

• Carry out electrical and communications cable hauling and installation activities

• Carry out trenching, excavation, backfilling and general civil works

• Complete small concrete works including equipment pads, footings and surrounds

• Operate excavators and skid steers

• Coordinate daily activities to ensure works remain productive and meet project timelines

• Ensure works are completed in accordance with drawings, specifications and quality requirements

• Complete daily site documentation, including JSA/JHAs and other safety documentation, daily site records, site pre-starts, plant and machinery pre-starts, quality inspections and compliance records

• Maintain a safe, organised and productive work site

About you

• Previous experience leading a small civil, electrical infrastructure or utilities crew

• Strong experience in underground conduit and service installation

• Experience with cable hauling, cable winches and associated hauling equipment

• HR Driver Licence

• Excavator competency/ticket

• Skid Steer competency/ticket

• Current National Police Clearance, or the ability to obtain one

• Ability and willingness to work away from home when required, including remote and regional projects

• Good understanding of civil construction and concrete works

• Ability to read and work from construction drawings and plans
