Heavy Diesel Fitter / HD Mechanic

AJL Mechanical Contracting is seeking experienced Heavy Diesel Fitters / Plant Mechanics to join our growing team.

We're looking for skilled tradespeople with experience maintaining, diagnosing and repairing heavy mobile equipment across mining, civil and heavy industry operations.

Depending on the project, your duties may include:

• Servicing, maintenance and repairs of heavy mobile plant

• Preventative and breakdown maintenance

• Mechanical fault finding and diagnostics

• Hydraulic and electrical troubleshooting

• Component removal, overhaul and replacement

• Inspection and reporting of equipment defects

• Working safely within shutdown and maintenance teams

• Following SWMS, isolation procedures and site safety requirements

• Completing maintenance documentation accurately

Experience on equipment including CAT, Komatsu, Hitachi and Liebherr is highly regarded.

To be considered, you'll ideally have:

• Australian recognised Heavy Diesel or Mobile Plant Trade Certificate

• Minimum 3 years post-trade experience

• Experience maintaining heavy mobile mining, civil or earthmoving equipment

• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills

• Experience working with hydraulic and electrical systems

• Ability to interpret technical manuals and maintenance documentation

• Current Australian Driver's Licence

• HR Driver's Licence (highly regarded)

• Ability to work safely with minimal supervision

• Strong communication skills and a proactive attitude

• Commitment to quality workmanship and safe work practices

While not essential for every project, the following will be highly regarded:

• Working at Heights

• Confined Space

• High Risk Work Licence (where applicable)

• Forklift Licence

• Elevated Work Platform (EWP)

• Current National Police Clearance

• Current mine site inductions (BHP, Rio Tinto, MinRes and other major operators)

• Experience in shutdown, fixed plant or field service maintenance

• Variety of mining and heavy industry projects
