About the role
Metric Power And Data Pty Ltd is seeking a skilled Electrician/Data Technician to join our team in Melbourne VIC 3000. This is a full-time position that combines electrical expertise with data infrastructure knowledge. You will play a crucial role in designing, installing, maintaining and troubleshooting electrical and data systems for our diverse client base. This position offers the opportunity to work on varied projects across Commercial, Shop Fit-and Hospitality whilst developing your expertise across both traditional electrical work and modern data technology solutions.
Key responsibilities
Installing, testing and maintaining electrical systems and equipment in accordance with Australian electrical standards and regulations
Setting up, configuring and troubleshooting data cabling infrastructure, including network systems and telecommunications installations
Reading and interpreting technical drawings, blueprints and specifications to ensure accurate installation and compliance
Diagnosing electrical and data faults and implementing effective solutions in a timely manner
Ensuring all work is completed safely and in compliance with relevant legislation, codes of practice and company procedures
Collaborating with other trades professionals and clients to coordinate project delivery
Maintaining accurate records of work completed, materials used and any issues encountered
Providing technical advice and recommendations to clients regarding electrical and data infrastructure solutions
What we're looking for
Current Electrical Trade Qualification or Austel
Valid Electrical Licence appropriate to the work being undertaken in Victoria
Demonstrated experience working with Vendor Certified data cabling systems, network infrastructure or telecommunications installations
Sound knowledge of Australian electrical standards, including the AS3000 and relevant AS/NZS standards
Proficiency in reading technical drawings and specifications
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex electrical and data systems
Excellent manual dexterity and attention to detail
Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel to various job sites across Melbourne, Regional Vic and Occasionally interstate
Knowledge of data infrastructure standards and best practices is highly desirable
Experience with power distribution and data centre environments would be advantageous
