Farm Mechanic / Maintenance Operator

About the role

Dalara Pastoral Operations is looking for a Farm Mechanic / Maintenance Operator to join our team in a hands-on full-time role focused on the repair, maintenance and servicing of farm vehicles, machinery and equipment.

The role is primarily workshop-based, working on utes, trucks, tractors, implements and machinery, with additional involvement in seasonal farm operations such as sowing, planting and harvest.

What You'll Do

• Repair and maintain farm vehicles, machinery and equipment

• Carry out servicing in line with manufacturer requirements

• Complete minor fabrication and workshop jobs as needed

• Identify work that should be outsourced due to complexity or timing

• Keep the workshop clean, organised and well stocked

• Assist with truck driving and machinery operation during peak periods

• Support general farm operations where required

What You'll Bring

• Trade-qualified diesel mechanic preferred, but not essential

• We will also consider a mechanically minded all-rounder

• Experience with agricultural machinery, trucks or heavy equipment highly regarded

• Welding/fabrication skills an advantage

• HC or MC truck licence preferred

• Interest in agriculture and willingness to help across seasonal operations

About us

Dalara Pastoral Operations (DPO) is a NSW based diversified family agricultural business with operations near Blackville (location of this position), Denman and Walcha, producing high-quality crops, hay and silage as well as Angus/Wagyu X cattle and sheep/lambs.

A broadacre cropping operation at Blackville sees the production of durum and bread wheat, chickpeas, sorghum and cotton. Fodder is grown on an extensive scale at Blackville, alongside winter and summer pasture. DPO houses a modern fleet of John Deere and Fendt tractors as well as Excel winter and summer planters. Smaller, versatile machinery such as smaller tractors, sprayers, loaders, trucks and dozers are also used. We pick our own and others cotton, contract out harvesting and spraying, whilst maintaining storage and grain management with an existing weighbridge and silo complex.

Alongside our cropping operations, DPO runs commercial herds of Angus at Blackville and Walcha which supply the fattening operations at our Denman location. At Blackville and Walcha, we breed F1 Angus/Wagyu X steers and heifers. Our crop and cattle managers work together to ensure a successful, safe and productive business that is prepared to diversify with needs and technology.
