The Role
Southern Ports is seeking motivated and enthusiastic applicants to join our 2027 Apprenticeship Program at Esperance Port. This four-year apprenticeship offers the opportunity to complete a nationally recognised trade qualification as a Boilermaker while gaining hands-on experience in a dynamic port environment. Working alongside experienced tradespeople and under the guidance of dedicated supervisors, apprentices will receive practical on-the-job training, mentoring, and structured learning to develop the skills and knowledge required to safely maintain and repair port infrastructure and equipment, preparing them for a successful career in their chosen trade. Key Duties and Responsibilities
Develop the skills to inspect, monitor, and assess plant and equipment, diagnose faults using appropriate tools and techniques, and carry out repairs under the guidance of experienced tradespeople.
Contribute to a safe and compliant workplace by identifying and reporting hazards, faults, and safety concerns.
Complete allocated tasks to a high standard while meeting quality expectations and agreed timeframes.
Actively participate in and successfully complete all required TAFE studies and workplace-based learning throughout the apprenticeship.

Requirements

To be eligible for this role, applicants must reside in Esperance and provide proof of Australian citizenship or permanent residency.
The successful applicant must:
Have a current Western Australian driver’s license or working towards one
Be able to obtain and maintain a Maritime Security Identification Card
Pass a pre-employment medical assessment including drug and alcohol testing
Provide a National Police Certificate that is within a 6-month period.
Be prepared to travel for external study requirements as part of completing the apprenticeship qualification.
