About the role
About Us
With over 120 years of history, Surrey Park Swimming is one of the oldest and most successful swimming clubs in Victoria. From our humble beginnings at “The Dive” in Box Hill, we have evolved into a fully integrated aquatic organisation spanning learn-to-swim programs, club squads, high-performance pathways, and masters swimming.
Operating across three sites (Aqualink Box Hill, Blackburn, and Heidelberg), we support a thriving community of over 750 club members and thousands of learn-to-swim students. Our vision is to inspire a lifelong love of swimming, and our purpose is to provide exceptional aquatic education, develop confident and capable swimmers, and nurture athletes to their full potential.
As we embark on our ambitious Strategic Plan 2026-2030, we are seeking a dynamic, commercially focused, and community-minded Chief Executive Officer to lead our organisation into its next phase of growth and success.
The Role
Reporting to the Committee, the CEO is responsible for the strategic development and operational management of Surrey Park Swimming. You will drive the commercial activities of the business, ensure financial sustainability, and oversee the effective implementation of our strategic priorities.
This is a unique opportunity to lead a large, professionally staffed not-for-profit organisation while balancing the needs of grassroots community participation and high-performance athletic success.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership: Lead the implementation of the Strategic Plan 2026-2030, developing annual business and marketing plans to achieve organisational goals.
Commercial & Financial Management: Drive financial sustainability, manage budgets, oversee the expansion of our learn-to-swim programs and explore new market opportunities and partnerships.
Community & Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong, mutually beneficial relationships with club members, families, local schools, and key stakeholders.
Operational Excellence: Ensure resources (facilities, IT, human resources) are fit-for-purpose and efficiently allocated to provide quality services across all programs.
Culture & Human Resources: Foster a positive, inclusive, and high-performing culture aligned with our core values of Respect, Integrity, Excellence, Belonging, and Commitment. Ensure compliance with all child protection, safety, and employment regulations.
Governance Support: Work closely with the committee to maintain clear reporting frameworks, and support data-informed decision-making.
About You
We are looking for an inspiring leader with a strong entrepreneurial mindset and a proven track record in business and financial management. You must be able to navigate the balance between driving commercial success and fostering a supportive, community-centric environment.
Qualifications & Experience:
Minimum 10 years of business and financial management experience.
Minimum 3 years of experience at the General Manager or C-Level.
Solid understanding of financial statements, metrics, and business drivers.
Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills.
Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to adapt to changing market conditions.
Relevant experience within a Not-For-Profit organisation; experience with volunteer-based sporting organisations is highly desirable.
A deep understanding of the swimming or broader aquatic/sports industry is advantageous.
Desirable: Sports Administration or Business Management Degree.
Mandatory Requirements:
Existing work rights for Australia.
Current and cleared Victorian Working with Children Check.
Current Victorian Driver’s License.
Why Join Us?
At Surrey Park Swimming, you will be joining a connected community of swimmers, families, volunteers, coaches, and staff who are passionate about the sport. You will have the opportunity to make a tangible impact, driving the growth of a historic club while shaping the future of aquatic education and performance in Victoria.
How to Apply
If you are a visionary leader ready to make a splash at Surrey Park Swimming, we want to hear from you.
Please submit your resume and a cover letter outlining your relevant experience and how you align with the values and strategic vision of Surrey Park Swimming.
