Your day as an AssociateYour typical day-to-day work will include providing high-quality commercial, financial, governance and policy analysis to support Treasury's oversight of government businesses in the energy and water sectors. The role contributes to the development of advice, policy initiatives and stakeholder engagement activities by undertaking research, analysis and project support that informs decision making and strengthens commercial and policy outcomes.
The TeamCommercialThe Commercial Group is responsible for commercial policy development, major projects and commercial transactions, managing State’s shareholding in its commercial businesses, analysis and review of State’s commercial assets and liabilities as well as oversight of the state insurance schemes.We support agencies with commercial and financial consultancy and advisory services and provide advice on commercial policies and frameworks.
Commercial AssetsWe manage the NSW Government’s shareholding in State owned corporations and other commercial government businesses, assessing and monitoring their strategies and performance. We work with those businesses to deliver shareholder value and returns, alignment with government policy, and strong governance. We aim to embrace private sector and government best practice in asset management.We manage assets and exposures that remain with the NSW Government following a major transaction.We develop and support the implementation of the NSW Government Commercial Policy Framework, providing advice to shareholding ministers and assisting with appointments to the boards.
