Senior UX Designer

Betfair Pty Limited is a disruptor bringing innovation and competition to the Australian sports betting industry while operating responsibly and following regulations to protect the community.

We're on the lookout for a Senior UX Designer to join our innovative Digital team at Betfair. Working closely with Product Management, Engineering and CX/UX Research, the Senior UX Designer owns end-to-end UX, UI and interaction design across Betfair Australia's customer-facing product suite, with a primary focus on our mobile wagering apps. You will also own Betfair's design system, ensuring our components and patterns are scalable, consistent and accessible. 

This role is offered on a full-time basis, however, we are open to discussing part-time arrangements for the right candidate.

REQUIREMENTS

What you will bring

• 4+ years in a digital UX, UI or Product Design role.
• Demonstrated experience designing both web and native mobile apps (iOS/Android).
• A portfolio showing end-to-end work, from opportunity/problem framing through to high-fidelity UI and shipped product.
• A working knowledge of design systems – component libraries, patterns and documentation.
• Highly proficient in Figma, including prototyping, component-based design libraries and Dev Mode handoff.
• Strong experience partnering directly with Product Managers and Engineers in agile squads, from discovery through delivery.
• Experience planning or supporting usability testing and user research, with confidence translating findings into designs.
• Clear communication, including the ability to explain and defend UX/UI designs decisions.
• Strong facilitation and stakeholder presentation skills, including with senior audiences.
• Experience designing for accessibility (WCAG) and inclusive design practice.
• Comfortable working with engineers and within technical constraints, with familiarity with HTML, CSS and frameworks such as React or React Native.
• Bonus points if you have worked in wagering, gambling or sports/racing industry.

Some tasks include, but are not limited to:

• Own end-to-end UX/UI for our mobile wagering apps (iOS and Android), from concept through to delivery.
• Design core betting flows including bet placement, in-play/live markets, account and payments experiences.
• Produce user flows, wireframes, prototypes and high-fidelity UI, primarily in Figma.
• Partner with engineering through build and QA to protect design intent.
• Own and govern Betfair Australia's design system, including components, patterns and interaction principles.
• Build and maintain a scalable component library in Figma, aligned to a shared engineering component library.
• Establish clear contribution and governance processes so other designers and squads can extend the system consistently.
• Audit the product suite for consistency, retiring outdated patterns and promoting best practice.
• Plan and support UX/CX research including usability testing, customer interviews and co-design sessions.
• Translate research findings into concrete design recommendations.
• Use data (analytics, funnel and drop-off metrics) and experimentation such as A/B testing to validate design direction.
• Partner closely with Product Managers and Engineers in agile squads, from discovery through to delivery.
• Present concepts and design rationale confidently to stakeholders, including senior leadership.
• Mentor and provide feedback to other product designers, raising the craft bar across the team.
• Ensure designs meet accessibility (WCAG) standards and responsible gambling / compliance requirements.
• Work with the Brand & Design team so product work stays on brand.
