About the role
This is a unique opportunity for an exercise physiologist (AEP) with a knowledge and experience of working with older people to join a clinical research trial. The AEP will facilitate tele-health sessions, aiming to support goal setting and lifestyle change, using physical activity to reduce risk factors for developing dementia. In line with research practice, the AEP will also be expected to follow standardised procedures, and conduct some research data collection, whilst also being able to respond to the individual experiences of participants.
Key responsibilities
Facilitate tele-health sessions to support goal setting and lifestyle change
Use physical activity to reduce risk factors for developing dementia
Follow standardised procedures as part of research practice
Conduct research data collection
Respond to individual experiences of participants
Complete mandatory training including Research Integrity, Ethics training and trial protocol training
Counsel people with mild level of memory or thinking concerns
About you
Registered AEP with degree in exercise physiology or equivalent
Having own ABN/insurance
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work independently and in a team
Experience with older adults and behavioural interventions or counselling
Ability to consistently adhere to specific guidelines required for research
Reliable access to internet, computer, webcam
Available to undertake the exercise consultation sessions for the term of the project
Interest and experience in cognitive health, healthy ageing, dementia and dementia prevention is highly valued
Desirable: Clinically proficient Mandarin language skills, with the ability to deliver clinical advice and support participant interactions in Mandarin
