About the role
Milky Goodness is a growing Australian-owned food manufacturing and breastfeeding support brand, producing our range from our own bakery and production facility in Mulgrave, Western Sydney.
We're looking for another great person to join our bakery and production team.
This isn't a traditional bakery position where you'll spend all day decorating cakes or working at a bench.
It's a hands-on food production role where you'll be trained across different areas of our manufacturing process — from preparing ingredients and making cookie dough, through to operating production machinery, packing finished products and helping manufacture our powdered product ranges.
Some days you'll be making dough. Other days you may be running our cookie encrusting machine or flow-wrap packaging line.
We deliberately rotate our team through different areas of production so everyone becomes confident across the bakery, keeps learning and isn't doing the same job every day.
Previous bakery, food manufacturing or machine-operation experience would be highly regarded, but it isn't essential.
For the right person, we're happy to train you.
What matters more to us is that you're reliable, practical, comfortable working with machinery, willing to learn and genuinely prepared to work as part of a production team.
Depending on the day's production schedule, your role may include:
Weighing and preparing ingredients for production
Making commercial batches of cookie dough
Operating industrial mixers and bakery equipment
Operating our cookie encrusting and production machinery
Operating our flow-wrap packaging machine
Monitoring product quality and identifying production issues
Mixing and blending powdered food products
Packing, boxing and labelling finished products
Recording production quantities, wastage and batch information
Preparing stock for storage, wholesale and dispatch
Cleaning and sanitising machinery, equipment and production areas
Following food safety, allergen, hygiene and WHS procedures
Helping the rest of the team keep production moving efficiently
Full training will be provided across our equipment and production processes.
You don't need to be a qualified baker.
You do need to be someone who:
Turns up reliably and on time
Enjoys practical, hands-on work
Can work efficiently without sacrificing quality
Has strong attention to detail
Is comfortable working around production machinery
Can follow recipes, measurements, processes and instructions accurately
Is happy working both independently and as part of a small team
Can communicate when something doesn't look or feel right
Takes pride in keeping their workspace clean and organised
Is comfortable with repetitive production tasks when required
Is willing to learn different roles rather than staying in one position
Understands that cleaning is an important part of food manufacturing — not an optional job at the end of the day
Experience in food manufacturing, commercial kitchens, bakeries, production lines, machine operation, packing or warehousing would be a bonus.
But attitude, reliability and willingness to learn are just as important to us.
This is a casual position with approximately 2–5 weekdays of work available per week, depending on our production requirements.
Our typical shifts include:
6:00am – 2:00pm
8:00am – 4:00pm
Occasional shorter shifts of approximately 4–5 hours
Start and finish times can vary depending on the production schedule.
Because our production requirements change from week to week, this position will suit someone who has good weekday availability and some flexibility around their working days and start times.
There is potential for additional hours as our production requirements continue to grow.
You'll be joining a small team, not disappearing into a giant factory.
On a typical cookie production day, one team member may be preparing and mixing dough, another operating our encrusting machinery and another running the finished-product packaging line.
The team works together to keep production moving, and you'll gradually be trained across each area.
We strongly value cross-training because it gives our team variety, makes everyone more capable and gives people opportunities to develop new skills within the business.
Casual Award wages based on the applicable classification
Consistent weekday production work
No hospitality-style late nights
Modern commercial bakery and food manufacturing equipment
Full training across multiple areas of production
Variety rather than performing one job every shift
Opportunities to develop machine-operation and food-manufacturing skills
Free onsite parking
Monthly Milky Goodness product allowance
A supportive small-team environment
Opportunities for additional hours and internal development as the business grows
Milky Goodness is an Australian-owned brand supporting mothers throughout pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Unlike many food brands, we manufacture our products ourselves.
Our Mulgrave facility produces our baked products and other food ranges which are sold directly to customers and through major retailers around Australia.
We're proud of what leaves our production floor, and we're looking for someone who wants to take pride in it with us.
Please include a short cover letter answering the following three questions:
What is your general weekday availability, and are you able to work shifts starting at either 6:00am or 8:00am?
Tell us about any experience you have in food production, bakeries, commercial kitchens, manufacturing, machine operation, packing or similar work. If you don't have experience, tell us why you think you'd still be a good fit.
This role involves standing for much of the shift, repetitive production work, operating machinery, ingredient preparation, packing and daily cleaning. Are you comfortable with all of these parts of the role?
Please keep your answers short and practical. We're more interested in your availability, attitude and suitability for the role than a formal cover letter.
