General Manager, People and Safety

About the role

The General Manager People and Safety is a key member of the Executive Management Team, contributing to strategic planning, organisational performance, governance, risk management and cultural leadership across Adelaide Cemeteries. The role is responsible for developing and implementing contemporary people and safety strategies that support organisational performance, workforce capability, employee wellbeing and legislative compliance. The role will lead the organisation's approach to operating procedure governance and quality management, engaging leaders and stakeholders to embed consistent ways of working, promote a culture of quality and continuous improvement, and ensure alignment with organisational objectives, safety requirements and regulatory obligations.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and deliver a People and Safety Strategy aligned to the Strategic Business Plan

• Provide strategic advice to the CEO, Board and Executive Team on workforce, culture, leadership and safety matters

• Lead organisational transformation initiatives that enhance culture, capability and business performance

• Lead the development and implementation of contemporary human resource strategies, policies and frameworks

• Oversee workforce planning and succession planning initiatives

• Provide executive leadership for the organisation's WHS framework and safety management systems

• Ensure compliance with WHS legislation, regulations and codes of practice

• Develop and implement a comprehensive employee wellbeing strategy

• Lead learning and development strategies that support organisational objectives

• Lead, coach and develop members of the People and Safety team

About you

• Relevant tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, Work Health Safety, Organisational Development, Business, Psychology, Safety, Industrial Relations or related discipline

• MBA or Postgraduate qualification in Leadership, Organisational Development or Human Resource Management, or Postgraduate qualification in a relevant field or significant executive leadership experience

• Demonstrated executive leadership experience in people, culture and safety functions

• Proven ability to contribute to organisational strategy and business performance

• Experience leading organisational transformation and change initiatives

• Extensive experience across workforce planning, talent management, organisational development, employee relations and performance management

• Demonstrated experience leading organisational WHS strategies and safety management systems

• Sound knowledge of WHS legislation, regulations and risk management principles

• Exceptional stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills

• Experience managing budgets and resources
