Technical Sales Support Engineer

We’re on the lookout for a Technical Support Engineer to join our team at CoverTel. We supply specialised test and measurement equipment, primarily to clients in telco, utilities and critical infrastructure organisations who rely on precise, credible solutions.
Why this role mattersYou won't be stuck behind a desk logging tickets all day. You’ll be our go-to technical specialist, bridging the gap between high-end test gear and field operations. From training clients on legacy and modern tech to authoring MOPs that keep critical systems safe, your work directly impacts operational reliability across Australia.
What you’ll be doing:Run hands-on product demonstrations and train utility engineering teams on how to operate our test equipment.Write clear Methods of Procedure (MOPs), Statements of Work (SOWs), and test guides for customer projects.Troubleshoot basic customer issues directly, while coordinating with manufacturers and vendors to handle RMAs, repairs, and complex technical escalations.Serve as the main contact for client calibration schedules and keep our demo fleet and equipment inventory organized.Work alongside our Sales team on technical proposals, and oversee our internal office IT and staging setups.
What you bring:A practical background in telecommunications, with a solid understanding of legacy tech common in utility environments.Practical experience writing technical MOPs, SOWs, or field test procedures.Hands-on familiarity with telecom test and measurement tools.Clear, straightforward communication skills for client training and cross-functional team collaboration.Based in Melbourne, VIC with a relevant engineering or technical qualification.
