Project Officer, Legal and Coronial

• Ongoing, full-time role earning $100,894 - $114,476 per year, plus super.

What you will do

Support the Legal and Coronial team to manage correspondence and coordinate responses to legal requests, including statements, affidavits, and recommendations resulting from internal reviews, coronial and other inquiries. This work requires close attention to detail and excellent organisational skills to produce responses to numerous and varied requests for information, in a time pressured environment.

To be successful, you will be able to understand new subject matter quickly, demonstrate appropriate initiative, engage constructively with stakeholders, and have a strong capacity to draft accurate, timely and audience-appropriate documents. Experience in a legal and/or health setting, and an effective understanding of government processes, would be an advantage.

You will guide a small team to assess how well the sector performs.

You will:

• plan and lead high-level evaluations and reviews across the emergency management sector.
• identify key risks, trends and issues to help set review priorities.
• manage complex research, data collection and analysis using surveys, interviews and other methods.
• provide expert advice on emergency management issues, research findings and useful approaches.
• prepare clear briefs, reports and papers while supporting staff and sharing lessons.

About you

A tertiary qualification in a relevant field is desirable.

You should also have:

• strong experience leading high-level evaluations and reviews from planning through to delivery.
• high-level research, analysis and investigative skills, with the ability to assess complex information.
• sound knowledge of Victoria's emergency management sector and the issues it faces.
• strong leadership skills, with the ability to build trust, support staff and work across teams.
