About the role
We are seeking an experienced EWP Operator and Rigger to join our installation and maintenance team, working on high safety netting projects at golf courses, sporting facilities, and other commercial sites. This is a hands-on, physically demanding role suited to someone who is comfortable working at significant heights, has strong rigging experience, and takes pride in delivering safe, high-quality installations. Based out of Melbourne, this role will require regular travel to project sites throughout Victoria, interstate across Australia, and to New Zealand, so flexibility and willingness to travel (including overnight and extended stays) is essential.
Key responsibilities
Safely operate elevated work platforms (EWPs), including boom lifts and scissor lifts, to install, repair, and maintain high safety netting and fencing structures
Perform rigging duties associated with the installation of netting systems, poles, cabling, and support structures at height
Read and interpret site plans, engineering drawings, and installation specifications
Install and tension high-strength netting to engineered specifications
Conduct pole, cable, and structural rigging in line with safe work method statements (SWMS)
Carry out routine inspections, repairs, and maintenance of existing netting and fencing installations
Work collaboratively with site supervisors, engineers, and other trades to ensure projects are delivered on time and to specification
Identify and report site hazards, ensuring all work is carried out in accordance with WHS/OHS legislation and company safety procedures
Maintain EWP and rigging equipment in safe, serviceable condition
Complete required documentation, including pre-start checks, incident reports, and job sheets
About you
Proven experience operating EWPs (boom lifts and/or scissor lifts) in a commercial or construction environment
Demonstrated experience as a rigger, ideally with exposure to netting, fencing, sports screens, or similar high-access structural work
Sound understanding of height safety, fall protection, and rigging safety principles
Strong physical fitness and comfort working at significant heights (up to 30+ metres)
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and site plans
A safety-first mindset with a strong track record of compliance
Good communication skills and ability to work well within a small team
Willingness and ability to travel extensively, including interstate and to New Zealand
Valid driver's licence (manual preferred); truck or trailer licence highly regarded
EWP Licence (Boom-type, valid Australian High Risk Work Licence) — essential
Rigging Licence (Basic Rigging minimum; Intermediate/Advanced Rigging highly regarded) — essential
Working at Heights certification
White Card (General Construction Induction)
Current Police Check (or willingness to obtain)
Passport with no travel restrictions (for New Zealand travel)
