About the role
A great opportunity if you're passionate about music and the performing arts to step into the role and make an impact.
The University of Sydney has a new opportunity covering a secondment for 12 months for a self-motivated and passionate fundraiser to join the Advancement Portfolio's growing Arts and Culture team as Development Associate. The role will have a focus on procuring and managing major gift opportunities at the prestigious Sydney Conservatorium of Music through donor cultivation, solicitation, stewardship and managing donor and internal stakeholder relations to set up opportunities to their greatest success.
Philanthropy requires thought, passion and action. It involves creating social impact and caring enough about the needs of others to help. Generosity worldwide has initiated groundbreaking research, provided millions of educational opportunities and built stronger communities. This is the power of giving.
The Sydney Conservatorium of Music, or 'the Con' as it is affectionately known, provides a distinctive and innovative environment for musicians, composers and music scholars to learn, create and perform, preparing students to thrive in today's evolving music industry. The Con awards over $1.5 million in scholarships every year thanks to its proud community of donors. As it continues to reimagine the future for music education, the Con partners with philanthropists and the University to realise a range of groundbreaking programs, development initiatives and game-changing research. From the concert hall to the big screen, the orchestra pit to the Xbox or from the opera and music theatre to the fabric of communities, the demand for our art and impact of music is greater than ever.
In this role you will develop relationships with high net worth donors, connecting their passions with work that would otherwise not be undertaken, or education and outreach opportunities to support the next generation of leaders and thinkers. You will build strong internal relationships with academic leaders to understand how their critical work can be aligned with donor passions. You would be a part of lifting the profile of philanthropy across the institution.
