About the role
As the Live-In Boarding Facility Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operation of the boarding facility and ensuring every dog receives the highest possible standard of care. This is a hands-on role requiring someone equally comfortable handling a group of energetic dogs, managing a team, speaking with clients, checking fencing and providing enrichment and adequate care for the dogs in your care. You will be responsible for creating a calm, safe and well-run environment for both dogs and staff.
Key responsibilities
Oversee the day-to-day care of all boarding dogs
Maintain a structured routine incorporating exercise, enrichment, training, socialisation and rest
Supervise and participate in group play and enrichment activities
Monitor dogs throughout the day and overnight
Conduct daily health and wellbeing checks
Recognise changes in behaviour, health or temperament and escalate concerns appropriately
Administer medications and basic treatments as required
Maintain accurate care and medication records
Supervise and support a small team of animal attendants
Communicate professionally and warmly with clients on a regular basis
About you
3+ years of professional experience working with dogs
Experience in dog daycare, boarding, training, kennels, veterinary care or a similar environment
Strong dog-handling skills and confidence around dogs of different sizes, breeds and temperaments
A calm and confident approach to challenging situations
Strong leadership and organisational skills
Excellent communication and people skills
A full Australian driver's licence is essential
A high level of physical fitness
Confidence working outdoors in all weather conditions
A strong sense of responsibility and attention to detail
