Educators draw on current early childhood research and best practice to create engaging environments where children can connect, grow, and discover.Role Description The Room Leader is a full-time, on-site role based in Capalaba, QLD, responsible for leading the day-to-day operations of a designated room within the service. This position oversees planning, implementing, and evaluating age-appropriate learning programs aligned with early education frameworks and Catholic Early EdCare’s philosophy. The Room Leader guides and supports educators, ensuring high standards of supervision, safety, hygiene, and wellbeing for all children. The role involves building positive relationships with children, families, and colleagues, maintaining clear communication and collaborative partnerships. Additional responsibilities include documenting children’s learning, monitoring compliance with regulatory requirements, and contributing to continuous improvement of room practices and service quality.Qualifications Relevant early childhood education qualification (e.g., Diploma or Bachelor in Early Childhood Education) and knowledge of approved learning frameworks.Demonstrated experience leading a room or team in an early childhood or school-aged care setting, with strong mentoring and team collaboration abilities.Skills in planning and delivering engaging educational programs, observing children’s development, and documenting learning and progress.Sound understanding of child safety, wellbeing, behaviour guidance, and creating inclusive, culturally responsive learning environments.Effective communication and interpersonal skills to build respectful relationships with children, families, colleagues, and community partners.Organisational and time-management skills to coordinate daily routines, manage resources, and maintain accurate records and documentation.Knowledge of relevant regulatory and compliance requirements, including National Quality Framework, health and safety standards, and safeguarding policies.Current Working with Children Check (or equivalent), first aid, CPR, and anaphylaxis/asthma management certifications, or willingness to obtain.Commitment to Catholic Early EdCare’s values, with openness to working within a faith-based organisation and supporting diverse communities.
