Alchin Long Group (ALG) is seeking a Toolmaker to join our team. This role is ideal for a trade-qualified professional who enjoys a mix of tooling, maintenance, fabrication, and continuous improvement within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

About The Role:

Reporting to the Operational Excellence Manager, this role provides critical technical support across our production and assembly operations.

 You will play a key role in:

• Maintaining production equipment reliability

• Minimising downtime

• Supporting tooling and die casting performance

• Contributing to continuous improvement and automation initiatives

This is a hands-on, workshop-based role suited to someone who enjoys problem-solving and delivering practical engineering solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

Die Casting Maintenance & Tooling

• Maintain, repair, and overhaul dies casting

• Inspect tooling for wear, defects, and performance issues

• Perform machining, polishing, fitting, and modification work

• Support die life management and tooling optimisation

Production & Maintenance Support

• Provide day-to-day technical support to production teams

• Diagnose and repair machinery breakdowns

• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance

• Minimise downtime and maintain production targets

Tooling, Jigs & Fixtures

• Manufacture, modify, and maintain tooling and production aids

• Support new product introduction and assembly setups

• Improve workholding and tooling methods

Continuous Improvement & Automation

• Identify opportunities to improve safety, efficiency, and productivity

• Support automation initiatives and process improvements

• Work with engineering on equipment upgrades and modifications

Workshop Support

• Operate workshop machinery safely and effectively

• Read and interpret technical drawings and specifications

• Maintain tools, equipment, and spare parts

About You:

• Trade qualification in Toolmaking, Fitting & Turning, Machining, or similar

• Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment

• Strong mechanical troubleshooting and fabrication skills

• Experience with tooling, dies, or casting equipment (highly regarded)

• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and maintenance reports

• Proactive, reliable, and able to work both independently and in a team
