About the role
The Sycamore School is an independent school for Prep to Year 10 young people from the autistic community. Its focus is on improving life quality outcomes. The Behaviour Support Assistant will embody the following:

The role:
As the Behaviour Support Assistant you will:
Support young autistic people in a holistic environment that is individually responsive, relative and relational.
Support and assist in the implementation of School-Wide Positive Behaviour support practices.
Support and assist in bringing about meaningful and positive change in behaviour young people's social, emotional and behavioural needs.
Responsibilities and duties:
Assist with behaviour support as directed by the Behaviour Specialist.
Conduct observations on key behaviours of concern to support the Behaviour Specialist.
Support the Behaviour Specialist with creating behaviour guidelines.
Assist with behaviour escalations with the support of the Behaviour Specialist.
Provide information to the Behaviour Specialist around behaviours of concerns in each classroom.
Assist across the school in implementing classroom behaviour strategies with Behaviour Specialist supervision.
Report any behaviours of concern to the Behaviour Specialist.
Developing resources to support the implementation of strategies across the School's curriculum.
Input data into excel spreadsheets from the Schools internal behaviour reporting process.
Assist with data collection on behaviours of concern.
Support Behaviour Specialist with running of staff workshops.
Maintain and enhance professional knowledge and technical skills by keeping up to date with new development and relevant trends.
Support child protection procedures as per legislation and The Sycamore School's Child Protection Policy.
Support and operate within the values of The Sycamore School.
Perform other duties as directed.

To be considered for the role you should:
Be studying towards a bachelor's degree preferably in a related field (psychology, behaviour science or social science).
Have experience in working with autistic young people preferable or willingness to learn ASD specific techniques.
Have previous experience working in a school or education environment preferable.
Possess a Working with Children Check (Blue Card).
Have the right to live and work in Australia.
