Join a Major Fibre Infrastructure Program
UGL's Telecommunications business is seeking an experienced Designer to support the planning and delivery of a major long-haul fibre infrastructure program across Australia. Working in a GIS-driven environment, you will develop route alignments, assess design options and produce high-quality design outputs that support project delivery.
This newly created role offers the opportunity to contribute to a nationally significant telecommunications infrastructure project from the early stages, helping shape design outcomes across a large-scale program.
The Role
As a Designer, you will work closely with engineering, survey, project controls and delivery teams to develop practical, constructable and compliant fibre route solutions. You’ll contribute to large-scale infrastructure projects while working with leading GIS and spatial analysis tools.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and optimise fibre route alignments using GIS and spatial analysis tools.
Prepare design documentation, mapping, reports and supporting project deliverables.
Support survey planning, review survey outputs and resolve design-related issues.
Assess route constructability, constraints, risks and opportunities to support project outcomes.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure designs are practical, compliant and ready for delivery.
About You
Experience in telecommunications, long-haul linear fibre infrastructure
Strong GIS capability, including experience with QGIS and spatial data analysis.
Experience in preparing technical designs, reports and project documentation.
Understanding of route constructability and infrastructure interfaces.
Qualifications in Engineering, Spatial Science, Surveying, Drafting, Design or a related discipline (or equivalent industry experience).
Strong communication, stakeholder engagement and problem-solving skills.
