Your new role as ECG Technician/ECG Nurse:
Maitland Private Hospital is seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented ECG Technician/ECG Nurse to provide high-quality cardiac diagnostic services and support patient care across our hospital. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working directly with patients, has strong clinical observation skills, and is committed to maintaining the highest standards of safety, privacy, and service excellence. Reporting to the Nurse Unit Manager, the ECG Technician/ECG Nurse will perform ECG procedures, support patient care activities, maintain cardiac diagnostic equipment, and contribute to a positive patient experience.
About the role:
The ECG Technician/ECG Nurse role at Maitland Private Hospital is responsible for performing high-quality ECG procedures while ensuring patient safety, comfort, dignity, and privacy at all times. Working closely with the Nurse Unit Manager and clinical teams, the successful applicant will contribute to the delivery of safe and effective patient care through accurate cardiac monitoring and timely escalation of abnormal findings. The role involves the provision for ECGs for the whole hospital, including inpatient and day only procedures.
The role includes maintaining ECG equipment and ensuring ECG rooms, beds, and associated equipment are clean, stocked, and ready for use. The successful applicant will be responsible for maintaining accurate ECG billing records, pre-admission data entry, and clinical documentation throughout the hospital. Strong attention to detail is required to ensure all administrative processes are completed accurately and within required timeframes.
The ECG Technician/ECG Nurse will provide a positive patient experience by demonstrating a friendly, supportive, and professional approach. This includes anticipating patient needs, responding respectfully to concerns, and maintaining strict standards of patient confidentiality and privacy in accordance with hospital policies. As a valued member of the team, the successful candidate will contribute to a collaborative and supportive workplace culture, demonstrate effective communication and time management skills, and actively participate in quality improvement initiatives. The role also requires compliance with all mandatory education, workplace health and safety requirements, infection prevention and control standards, and clinical risk management programs.
About you (essential criteria):
Current Working with Children Check and Police Check.
Diploma in Nursing, Certificate III or IV in Health Services Assistance, Allied Health Assistance, or equivalent experience.
Previous experience performing ECGs in a healthcare setting.
Ability to recognise abnormal cardiac rhythms and escalate appropriately.
High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
Demonstrated ability to maintain patient confidentiality and privacy.
Sound computer and data entry skills.
Current CPR certification.
Flexibility to work various shifts with an availability to start early (from 6am) when required
Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
Strong collaborative interpersonal skills with well-developed verbal and written communication skills.
Immunisation evidence and serology report in accordance with NSW Health.
Australian permanent resident status or equivalent work rights required.
Desirable attributes:
Previous experience in a private hospital setting.
Experience with hospital patient administration systems and billing processes.
Knowledge of National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards.
Understanding of workplace health and safety and infection prevention principles.
