A psychiatry role that supports your training

Continue your RANZCP training while developing your clinical practice in youth mental health and early psychosis.

As a Psychiatry Registrar with Uniting Recovery, you’ll work with young people aged 12–25 and their families as part of a supportive, multidisciplinary team. You’ll gain meaningful experience in early intervention, psychiatric assessment, clinical formulation and recovery-focused care, with professional supervision and opportunities for psychotherapy and scholarly work that support your RANZCP training requirements.

What you’ll do

Working alongside experienced psychiatrists and multidisciplinary clinicians, you’ll contribute to the assessment, treatment and ongoing care of young people experiencing, or at risk of, early psychosis.

You’ll:

• Conduct psychiatric assessments and contribute to diagnosis, clinical formulation and treatment planning
• Provide evidence-based psychiatric and psychological interventions within a recovery-oriented framework
• Work collaboratively with young people and their families to develop individualised care and psychosocial interventions
• Participate in clinical reviews, case formulation and multidisciplinary care planning
• Contribute to medication management and clinical decision-making within your scope of practice
• Build your experience in early psychosis intervention and youth mental health
• Participate in clinical supervision, professional development, psychotherapy and scholarly activities aligned with your RANZCP training
• Work collaboratively across a multidisciplinary team while developing your clinical autonomy

Based in Penrith, the role offers a 3-day onsite / 2-day work-from-home arrangement, balancing clinical engagement with flexibility for work that can be undertaken remotely.

What you’ll bring

You’ll be a medical practitioner currently progressing through your psychiatry training, with:

• Current registration with AHPRA as a medical practitioner
• Current enrolment in the RANZCP Psychiatric Registrar Training Program
• A current Australian driver's licence
• Clinical experience in psychiatry or mental health, ideally 1+ years
• The ability to undertake clinical assessment, formulation and treatment planning appropriate to your level of training
• An understanding of early psychosis, youth development and the impact of mental health on young people and their families
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills
• The ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
• A commitment to safe, ethical and recovery-oriented clinical practice
