Document Courier / Process Server / Court Runner — Launceston, TAS

Pugsley Court Agents Inc. is seeking a reliable independent contractor to assist with process serving, court filing, document pickup and delivery, and related field assignments throughout Launceston and surrounding communities.

This is a flexible, assignment-based opportunity suited to someone who is professional, highly responsive, comfortable driving throughout the region, and able to provide clear and detailed updates.

Compensation

• $30 per hour
• Two-hour minimum for each accepted assignment
• Reasonable travel time is paid as part of the hourly time
• Mileage, fuel, parking, and ordinary operating expenses are not separately reimbursed
• Fees charged to swear or affirm PCA affidavits are reimbursed with a receipt
• Hours and invoices are submitted every two weeks

Assignments may involve travel of up to approximately one hour outside Launceston.

Responsibilities

The contractor may be asked to:

• Serve legal documents on individuals and businesses
• Make service attempts at residential and commercial addresses
• Attend courthouses to file or retrieve documents
• Pick up and deliver legal documents
• Record detailed information following each attendance
• Provide PCA with an update promptly after every attempt or completed task
• Review affidavits prepared by PCA for factual accuracy
• Have affidavits sworn or affirmed
• Scan and return completed affidavits electronically
• Mail original affidavits back to PCA
• Perform other related court-running or legal-support assignments

Responsiveness

Strong communication is essential.

The successful contractor must:

• Provide an update after every service attempt
• Ordinarily send the update within 60 minutes of the attempt
• Respond promptly to messages concerning active files
• Be especially responsive when handling an urgent assignment
• Immediately report safety concerns, problems, or unexpected developments

Once an assignment is accepted, we need to be confident that it will be handled promptly and that we will not need to chase the contractor for updates.

Requirements

Applicants must have:

• A reliable vehicle
• A valid driver’s licence
• Valid automobile insurance
• A smartphone with reliable data and email access
• Access to a computer, printer, and scanner
• Strong written communication and attention to detail
• The ability to handle confidential legal documents securely
• A professional and calm manner
• Good judgment when dealing with difficult or evasive individuals
• The ability to work independently and follow assignment-specific instructions
• A willingness to travel throughout Miramichi and surrounding rural communities

Process-serving, courier, legal-support, security, investigative, court, or law-enforcement experience is an asset but is not strictly required.
