The Opportunity
An established and growing plaintiff personal injury practice is looking for a Workers Compensation Lawyer with approximately 2–4 years' PAE to join its Sydney team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a lawyer who already has experience in NSW Workers Compensation and wants to take the next step in their career within a practice offering quality work, autonomy, mentoring and a clear pathway for progression.

You will manage your own portfolio of Workers Compensation matters while working closely with experienced senior lawyers. The role provides genuine hands-on exposure to litigation, advocacy, settlement negotiations and proceedings before the Personal Injury Commission.

Rather than being limited to one part of the claims process, you will have the opportunity to develop strong end-to-end file management skills and build meaningful relationships with your clients.

What You'll Be Doing
You will have responsibility for your own Workers Compensation caseload from initial instructions through to resolution, including:

• Managing Workers Compensation claims from inception to settlement or determination
• Advising clients on their rights and entitlements under NSW Workers Compensation legislation
• Developing case strategies and progressing matters efficiently
• Drafting applications, submissions, witness statements, correspondence and settlement documentation
• Preparing matters for conferences, conciliations, mediations and hearings
• Appearing in and managing matters before the Personal Injury Commission
• Conducting settlement negotiations
• Working with counsel, medical experts and other relevant stakeholders
• Maintaining regular communication with clients and guiding them through the claims process
• Managing deadlines and ensuring files progress efficiently
• Working collaboratively with paralegals, law clerks, support staff and senior practitioners

About You You will ideally have:

• Admission as a solicitor in NSW and a current practising certificate
• Previous experience in plaintiff Personal Injury, with a strong preference for Workers Compensation experience
• Knowledge of NSW Workers Compensation legislation and processes
• Exposure to the Personal Injury Commission
• Strong drafting, negotiation and client-management skills
• Confidence managing your own files with appropriate senior support
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
• A genuine interest in building your career within Workers Compensation and Personal Injury

Experience with advocacy, dispute resolution, PIC appearances or legal practice management systems such as Smokeball will be highly regarded.
