Engineering Change Officer

Downer Professional Services comprises of three business units our Technical, Advisory, and Capability consulting practice, and Team Downer, which partners with CASG and NSSG as a major service provider to Defence. Together, we are a multi-disciplinary advisory and delivery partner of choice for clients across Defence and National Security.

We currently have an opportunity for an Engineering Change Officer to manage the engineering change process for the DDG Combat System Upgrade, ensuring all proposed design, specification, and configuration changes are correctly captured, assessed, approved, and incorporated into the program's baseline documentation.

What You'll Do

This role offers a broad scope, with key role responsibilities including:

• Administer the engineering change process, including receipt, logging, and tracking of Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs) and Requests for Deviation/Waiver against the DDG combat system baseline.
  
• Coordinate Change Control Board (CCB) activities, including scheduling, agenda preparation, distribution of change packages, and recording of board decisions and actions.
  
• Assess proposed changes for impact on functional performance specifications, interface control documents, requirements traceability, cost, schedule, and platform integration (weight, power, cooling margins).
  
• Maintain the configuration status accounting record, ensuring the current approved baseline is accurately reflected across design, specification, and Technical Data Pack documentation.
  
• Support Systems Requirements Review, PDR, and CDR activities by ensuring all in-scope changes are dispositioned and incorporated prior to milestone reviews.

What You'll Bring

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Systems, Electrical, Mechanical) or equivalent experience in engineering change/configuration management on complex technical programs.
  
• Demonstrated experience administering formal engineering change or configuration control processes (e.g. ECP, CCB, baseline management).
  
• Working knowledge of configuration management standards and practices (e.g. EIA-649, MIL-HDBK-61) and requirements/configuration management tools (DOORS, CMT-U).
  
• Strong organisational skills with high attention to detail and ability to manage multiple concurrent change actions.

• This technical position requires the individual to have obtained a recognised Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) Level 6 qualification in a relevant technical domain or relevant skills and work experience such that an individual can reasonably achieve a recognised AQF qualification if required by the position.

Due to the nature of the work, you are required to currently hold AGSVA clearance as required by the Commonwealth. In some instances, compliance with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) requirements may also be an inherent requirement.
