About the role

We're seeking a skilled and versatile Fire, Safety & Data Technician to join our team in Tennant Creek. You'll install, test, maintain and service fire protection, data and electronic security systems across a variety of commercial, industrial and remote environments — making sure everything meets compliance, safety and performance standards. No two days are the same, and you'll get exposure to a wide range of systems.

What you'll be doing

• Conducting routine inspections of fire safety equipment, including fire extinguishers, fire alarms, emergency and exit lighting, and sprinkler systems

• Installing and commissioning fire and safety systems in line with design specifications and relevant standards

• Maintaining and repairing fire safety equipment to keep it in full working order

• Responding to fire alarms, and maintaining and clearing FIPs in communication with the fire brigade

• Carrying out routine compliance testing and completing the necessary documentation

• Identifying system faults or non-compliance and carrying out corrective actions

• Installing, terminating and testing structured cabling systems and security cameras

• Setting up and maintaining data racks, patch panels, outlets and cable management systems

• Fault finding, diagnostics and repairs on data and communications systems

• Ensuring all work complies with industry standards and client specifications

• Communicating effectively with clients and the team, and taking part in toolbox meetings

What you'll need

• Open Cabling Licence (with structured / fibre endorsements)

• Current driver's licence, Working with Children Clearance and White Card

• Ability to interpret plans, schematics and technical specifications

• Relevant industry accreditation (e.g. FPA / CFA certified) and a solid understanding of the relevant Australian Standards

• Good time management, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to safety and compliance

Nice to have

• Work at Heights and Confined Space certificates of attainment

• Experience with data, security and fire system installations

• Ability to obtain a Police Clearance and abide by site rules
