Senior Programs Producer

Role purpose

The Senior Programs Producer is responsible for the development and delivery of major events and public programs that engage the Museum's diverse audiences, including early learners, families, access groups, teens, adults and intergenerational visitors.

Working as part of the Public Programs team, the Senior Programs Producer contributes to the development of a forward program of events aligned with the Museum's exhibition program, strategic priorities and audience needs. Responsibilities include end-to-end project management of programs and events, budget administration, ticketing and CRM management, stakeholder engagement, risk management, and ensuring high-quality audience experiences that are innovative, accessible and culturally inclusive.

The Senior Programs Producer works collaboratively with colleagues across the Museum and external partners to deliver impactful cultural and learning experiences, including programs within the Tim and Gina Fairfax Discovery Centre and the Museum's broader public engagement offer.

Key accountabilities

The successful candidate will possess strong cultural programming and event management experience, demonstrated ability to develop high-quality programs for diverse audiences, and the capacity to coordinate multiple concurrent projects. The role is responsible for:

• Developing, delivering and evaluating creative, audience-focused programs, events and experiences that support the Museum's exhibitions, strategic priorities and visitor engagement objectives.
• Project managing programs and events from concept through to delivery and evaluation, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, procurement, promotion, logistics, risk management and reporting.
• Maintaining and utilising ticketing systems, including event setup and ticket building, database management, reporting and analytics to support program delivery, audience development and informed decision-making.
• Working within a small, dynamic team, and being able to work collaboratively with colleagues, with autonomy and accountability for project delivery.
• Contributing to the development of the Museum's forward program of events and public programs through audience insights, sector knowledge and creative program design.
• Coordinating staff, volunteers, contractors, presenters, artists and partners to support the successful delivery of programs and events.
• Ensuring programs reflect contemporary practice in accessibility, cultural safety, inclusion and audience engagement, including working with First Nations communities, access advisors and diverse stakeholders.
• Working collaboratively with colleagues across Curatorial, Learning, Marketing, Development, Commercial, Visitor Experience, Facilities, Security and Front-of-House teams to ensure effective program delivery.
• Building and maintaining productive relationships with external partners, artists, performers, community organisations, cultural institutions and subject matter experts.
• Monitoring program performance and audience outcomes through evaluation data, participant feedback and audience insights, and applying findings to continuous improvement.
• Management and development of staff including building team capability through mentoring and performance feedback.
• Contributing to budget management, reporting, partnership development, grant applications and administrative requirements associated with program delivery.
• Maintaining awareness of emerging trends and best practice in cultural programming, audience engagement and event delivery, both nationally and internationally.
• Demonstrating a strong commitment to Work Health and Safety (WHS) by actively supporting a positive safety culture, following Museum policies and procedures, and identifying and managing risks associated with program delivery.

NB: This position requires occasional work outside standard business hours, including evenings, weekends and public holidays. The role may also involve some physical activity associated with event and program delivery.
