As a member of our clinical team, you will assess, plan, deliver and evaluate individualised nursing care while working collaboratively with patients, families and the multidisciplinary team.

About You

You are a compassionate and dedicated Registered Nurse with a genuine interest in mental health and a strong commitment to providing safe, respectful and recovery-focused care.

You have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and are confident building therapeutic relationships with patients. You are able to remain calm and professional when managing challenging or complex situations and work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide safe, high-quality and patient-centred nursing care to adults experiencing mental health challenges.
• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate individualised nursing care.
• Develop therapeutic and professional relationships with patients and support their recovery goals.
• Monitor and assess patients' mental and physical health and recognise changes in clinical presentation.
• Administer medications and treatments safely in accordance with relevant legislation, policies and procedures.
• Support patients in developing coping strategies and participating in their treatment and recovery plans.
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.
• Participate in clinical handovers, case reviews and multidisciplinary team meetings.
• Work collaboratively with psychiatrists, allied health professionals, nursing staff and other members of the multidisciplinary team.
• Identify and appropriately escalate risks, deterioration or changes in patient behaviour or presentation.
• Promote patient dignity, safety, privacy and confidentiality.
• Contribute to a safe, supportive and therapeutic ward environment.
• Participate in education, professional development and quality improvement activities.

You Will Also Bring

• Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA.
• Previous mental health nursing experience is highly regarded.
• Experience working with adult mental health patients is desirable.
• Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to establish and maintain therapeutic relationships.
• Compassionate, empathetic and non-judgemental approach to patient care.
• Ability to recognise and respond appropriately to changes in a patient's mental and physical health.
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Strong commitment to patient safety, recovery-focused care and professional practice.
• Excellent organisational and time management skills.
• Ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development.
• Availability to work the required part-time roster.

Remuneration

On offer is a base hourly rate of $41.89–$54.01 + superannuation, based on experience level and qualifications, exclusive of penalties and allowances (QLD RN/Midwife Level 1, Year 2–8).
