Finance Manager

Are you a finance professional who thrives on accuracy, leadership, and continuous improvement? We are seeking a passionate and detail-oriented Financial Reporting Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of our financial reporting function and strengthen the financial foundation across Affinity Education Group (AEG).

Reporting to the Head of Finance and CFO, this role plays a pivotal part in delivering transparent, timely, and high-quality financial outcomes. You’ll leverage your technical expertise to enhance financial monitoring and accountability while driving system and process improvements that support AEG’s growth.

The role:

• Lead the daily operations of the Financial Reporting function, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards and organisational policies.
• Manage the preparation of monthly and annual financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, cashflows, and board reports.
• Oversee and improve financial systems, policies, and processes to increase efficiency and accuracy across the organisation.
• Ensure compliance with all financial, tax, and legal requirements, including reporting to government and regulatory bodies.
• Manage the external audit process and maintain strong relationships with auditors, advisors, and financial institutions.
• Provide technical accounting advice to internal stakeholders and support key organisational projects with financial insights.
• Lead and mentor the finance team to foster collaboration, professional growth, and accountability.

What you’ll bring:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or similar discipline, with Chartered Accountant (CA) qualification.
• Minimum of 5+ years’ financial accounting experience, including 2+ years in a similar leadership role.
• Strong knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards, taxation law, and financial systems.
• Demonstrated experience preparing consolidated accounts and managing intercompany transactions.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel and strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines.
• A collaborative, proactive, and positive attitude with a commitment to continuous improvement.
• Knowledge of the childcare or education sector (desirable).
