About the role:

The Cloud Platforms team is responsible for building and evolving Suncorp's Azure platform, enabling teams across the organisation to securely and efficiently consume cloud services.

The Azure Cloud Platform Engineer (known internally as a Systems Engineer) focuses on Azure platform engineering, landing zones, governance, automation and Infrastructure as Code. You will help deliver secure, scalable and reusable platform capabilities that improve cloud adoption, strengthen security and governance and enhance the developer experience.

Working across Azure networking, identity, security, platform services and automation, you'll contribute to the ongoing evolution of Suncorp's cloud capabilities while supporting operational excellence across the Azure environment.

What you'll do:

• Design, build and improve Azure platform capabilities across the enterprise

• Develop and maintain Azure Landing Zones and subscription management capabilities

• Implement Azure governance controls using Management Groups, Azure Policy and RBAC

• Develop reusable Terraform modules and Infrastructure as Code solutions

• Support platform monitoring, observability and operational excellence

• Create and maintain engineering documentation, standards and operational procedures

• Identify and manage platform security, compliance and operational risks

What you'll bring:

• Experience working as an Azure Platform Engineer, Cloud Engineer or DevOps Engineer

• Strong experience designing, building and supporting Azure environments at scale

• Strong Terraform experience, including reusable module development

• Experience building Infrastructure as Code solutions and automation frameworks

• Strong understanding of Azure governance, subscription management and security controls

• Familiarity with AI as a programming and productivity assistant

• Technical Skills including: expertise in Azure cloud governance and platform engineering, including Azure Landing Zones, Azure Policy, Azure Networking & Security, Management Groups, Entra ID, RBAC, Terraform, and monitoring & observability solutions.
