About the role
Polczynski Robinson is looking for a dynamic law graduate (also considering final year law student) to join our leading corporate and commercial specialist firm. The ideal candidate will be interested in a career in commercial litigation, with a particular focus on insolvency law. This is a great opportunity to be mentored by some of the best legal minds and have a hands-on role from the start, working with professionals, SMEs and large corporates.
Key responsibilities
Assisting with the conduct of commercial litigation and insolvency matters from commencement through to resolution
Drafting correspondence, court documents, briefs to counsel and file notes under supervision
Undertaking legal research and preparing research memoranda on technical issues
Attending court, mediations and client meetings with senior practitioners
Managing document review, discovery and evidence preparation
Liaising with clients, counsel, courts and external stakeholders
Maintaining accurate file, billing and matter management records
About you
Completion of, or imminent completion of, a law degree (LLB or JD) and Practical Legal Training
Admission to practice, or eligibility for admission, in Victoria
A strong academic record
A demonstrated interest in commercial litigation, restructuring and insolvency
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail in drafting
Sound organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities
A proactive approach, commercial awareness and a willingness to take ownership of tasks
Confidence dealing with clients and senior stakeholders in a professional manner
Competence with legal technology and practice management systems
Prior clerkship, paralegal or legal support experience in a litigation or insolvency practice will be highly regarded but is not essential
