About the role
About the role As the Trail Maintenance Supervisor at Yarra Ranges Council, you will help keep the Warburton Mountain Bike Destination safe, well maintained and ready for riders of different skill levels. You will plan, inspect, record and carry out trail maintenance and repair work across the trail network and related infrastructure.
You will supervise a small trail crew of up to 5 direct reports and work with volunteers, contractors and other Council teams to complete maintenance work safely, on time and to a high standard. Based in Warburton, this hands-on role includes regular work on mountain bike trails, rough terrain and outdoor sites in different weather conditions.
In this role, you will coordinate inspections, test riding, trail repairs, trail grooming, vegetation removal, drainage, signage and other maintenance tasks. You will also support safety and emergency response and help with the day-to-day operations of the Warburton Mountain Bike Destination, including Bike Patrol activities.
This is a full-time permanent position (38 hours per week).
This is a Band 5 role with a salary range between $80,490 and $93,709 per annum, plus superannuation.

Experience and skills we’re looking for Knowledge and experience in maintaining trails, parks, open space, roads, drainage or other outdoor infrastructure. Supervisory experience with work crews, volunteers or contractors to complete safe and reliable work. Using and maintaining outdoor tools, small plant or machinery used for trail or infrastructure work. Experience in following safe work procedures, identifying hazards and supporting safe work practices. Time management skills to plan, organise and prioritise daily maintenance work within available time and resources. Solve practical problems, make sound decisions and respond quickly when issues arise on trails or work sites. The ability to carry out physical outdoor work, including using manual tools and small equipment on rough terrain.
